Overview

The High Threat Protection course bridges the gap between conventional domestic protective operations and conflict-zone protection work.This 19-day HTP course will provide the training, knowledge, and skills, to act as proficient protective team leader/member in all threat areas by focusing on one of the most challenging protective scenarios,High Threat-Low Profile operations.

Some subject include, Combat-Marksmanship, Live-fire Immediate Actions, Foreign Weapons identification, Unlawful detention, UTM/MGRS Grid Coordinates and map use, Practical Surveillance Detection, Close Quarter Defense with a principal, Physical Intervention for protective agents, Driver-Down Drills, Live-fire Vehicle down drills, and two full protective details complete with detail mapping, advance work, and practical surveillance detection during the details.

 

Learning Outcomes

This course is designed to introduce and enhance the skills necessary to counter threats and hazards that could not be avoided through the advance-planning process.  Some key learning points include:

  • Demonstrate appropriate reactions to hostile encounters

  • Explain international travel safety protocols

  • Analyze routes and identify key terrain features utilizing satellite mapping

  • Read and locate points utilizing the Military Grid Reference (MGRS) and Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinate systems

  • Identify and react to close surveillance

  • Demonstrate low-profile posturing

 

The course consists of lecture, instructor-led discussion, demonstration, and hands-on application. All skills training is taught to standard not to a set time. Approximately 1 hour of homework will be required each evening from coursework on provided by ABC instructors. Each homework session will be discussed and quizzed the following morning, prior to the day’s new lessons.
